Welcoming Fall Housewarming Gift

Image
Happy September, and now welcome to fall's change of seasons. After this summer my area suffered through a harsh hot weather related drought and an uptick in tornadic activity; though we have a lot of tornados and straight line winds wrapped with thunderstorms here, this year we had at least three different occaisions where we had upwards to five or more tornados at one time! That will have your head spin for real! Sitting on the patio relaxing one night last week, I felt a cool breeze saunter through the trees and ruffle my umbrella ovehead announcing onset of fall was not far behind. I took this photo late in October 2022. My friend's sold their 25 year old home to get in on the housing boon and to downsize. My girlfriend wanted to finally, after all this time, get her true "forever home" just the way she wanted it. They built a new ranch style home with all the bells and whistles on it and in it. They finally finished it and her husband is about to retire so th

Quick Thanksgiving Mantle Decoration

Image
Here's an easy craft project to get you in the holiday mood; that is not only quick to do, it is also very beginner level friendly. This project involves no sewing, no hot glueing, and no spray paint! Yay! If you are like me the holidays come up so fast and cooking while decorating can and will leave you exhausted. For this post today, I'm thinking of all the things i'm grateful for and realizing that I am thankful and blessed to be surrounded by family and friends. I hope you are surrounded by this as well. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays; I love the simplicity of family and good food. My simple project involves things you have on-hand. *Remember to always shop your own home before you buy something. Chances are you may have something right there that you'll be able to change into decor you had not thought of. I have these three hanging wooded tags that I hang from lamps or doorknobs or vases. I've had them for years and years. I think I paid $1.00 for

"The Bone Collector" Easy Scary Terrarium Craft Decor For Halloween

Image
I am so excited to present you with the easiest project yet. I like easy, I like zero to low cost, and I always find ways to upcycle something. This craft willhelp you enhance your Halloween decorations, even at this last minute. I have seen this done in numerous ways with numerous materials. It's up to you what type of creepy things you like to use, the ideas could be endless here. I have dubbed this easy craft decoration "The Bone Colector". I will display the "disclocated" skeleton body amongst the moss under glass; sound intriguing? The Supplies Needed As you can see here I have used two identical old sauce jars (if you don't collect jars you should, I have used them in so so many ways craftwise, recipewise, and giftwise)and the bonus here their lids were both in black so no paint was needed either. I had one hanging skeleton, a handful of rocks and a large handful of moss, a pair of house scissors. Once I gathered all the things I thought I

Easy Twig Star DIY 4th of July Decoration

Image
I love decorating for the 4th of July. Usually, I'd have people over either the 3rd of July or on the 4th itself. This year is different, because of Covid19, the celebrations will be on the down-low. I still love to have decor with the red white and blue and the American flags everywhere as well as something on the front door to be seen from the street. But again, this year is different. I'll put up what is still useable from years past, but adding in new things without buying anything is the ultimate upcycle move, and I saw something on another blog and I thought I can make that! If I could remember who that was I'd credit that blogger. (my memory is so short these days)  Enter the twig star.   This craft is so super easy and involves only what you may have on-hand, and thank goodness for the big thunderstorm we just had because my yard is riddled with sticks and twigs. I went around and assembled a large pile of twigs. From those, I'll pick out enough to make some sta

Making A Homemade Mask For Covid19

Image
As of April 3, 2020, the CDC and other agencies announced that it is possible to spread or received the coronavirus (Covid19) by simple conversation as the "droplets" of an infected/carrier/Asymptomatic person may become airborne. However, it is NOT a known way of transmission, do not panic over this. But as a result of this though, the agency is telling us for OUR protection or to bolster our own personal protection, that we may use a mask of a woven nature (i.e. like cotton). This can help us. Please see the guidelines below: From the CDC • A DIY mask, while not as effective as an N95 mask, still offers some protection from respiratory droplets that spread the virus. • Fabric that is 100% cotton is comparable to surgical masks & shows effectiveness. • If you can’t make your own mask, the CDC suggests covering your mouth and nose with a scarf or bandanna. • These masks aren’t going to fully protect you from coronavirus. You should still be

Desk Organizer Dollar Tree Craft

Image
I used these frames and this glue I put together a very easy craft that is super affordable and is quick to make This came as a result of my efforts to organize my house. My desk is always a mess, though I did try to keep things that were alike in piles.  It was a super hot mess! I had just finished cleaning my closet out and spotted the desk across the room, and I realized, "wow that desk is an ugly mess." I went to the Dollar Tree store to purchase Easter baskets for my grandkids and I spotted the clear plastic free standing picture frames, I thought I had seen another blogger at one time make an organizer out of them, but I couldn't remember who to credit. I quickly arranged them on the shelf and I knew it would work. I decided on just three of them, although, I think you could use four or even five of them in a row. I lined them up on the counter this is just before I glued them As you can see I lined them up, just to make sure I liked the arrangement a

Recycle and Upcycle This Year's Christmas Cards

Image
Don't throw your cards away! Make things like other cards and gift tags for example! Such an easy craft and you'll spend less money, you use things you have on hand. I make tags for birthdays too! So Easy! I'm down to the last thing to put away from the Christmas decorating season, I hope you are too. What to do with all the Christmas cards that got sent to you? That's easy, recycle them into something else or upcycle them into new and different cards. Don't throw anything away! As many of you know, I barely ever buy and cards anymore (this includes birthday cards, unless, the card or the event is very unusual), and I never buy gift tags ever!  This year I did not make my cards for the first time in many many years as I was ill just after Thanksgiving and just before Christmas this year. This made it difficult to start and worrisome that I wouldn't finish making them in time, I decided to buy them. I usually start just before Thanksgiving and finish th
