Wash Your Make Up Brushes

Image
I cannot tell you how many times I have written an article regarding the cleanliness of makeup brushes. I will give you three guesses and the first two do not count, on who is the number one violator of her own words, that's right, me! Oh it's awful, because I get busy and like everyone else I forget to do it. I have sensitive skin and light to moderate rosacea so I am a prime example of those who can get skin irritation from filthy brushes. The brushes will not even apply makeup correctly if they are corroded and filled with makeup that is built up over time! There is a huge amount of bateria that will naturally also build up on your brushes from skin cells and pollution that is naturally or un naturally found on your skin. **Look how dirty mine are** Especially that sponge applicator, By the way they truly are disposable and if they start to shred or come apart, they definitely need to be tossed. Now a lot of the top makeup gurus and dermatoligists say to wash make up br

What is a DIY Compressed Mask & PINCH ME Group

Image
What's a Pinch Me? I belong to a group that reviews samples of products for free and once you create a profile you can begin to receive notice for products. The products can be of food, beauty, health,or lifestyle related. I'll provide my referral link at the end of the article if you'd like to sign up. Everything is free except your time. I recently received a DIY Compressed mask from the Pinch Me group, and frankly I wasn't sure what they were. I decided to share this article after doing research since I was also asked by another person if I had heard of them. Simply put a DIY Compressed mask is an individually wrapped cellulose "paper" facial mask. This mask when soaked in your favorite "facial recipe" expands. One will then very slowly peel it apart and apply it to your face for skin treatment. These facial compressed masks can be purchased individually wrapped in bags of 50 or 100 for relatively cheap; I've seen them for $3.00 up to

Crepey Skin; The Myth and The Treatments

Image
Tissue Paper? As we age our skin becomes thin, What can we do? What is Crepey Skin? First, Crepey Skin is a term that refers to skin that has the appearance of being thin and wrinkled and often likened to tissue paper or crepe paper! This is a picture of a hard-working hand, and this hand is mine! Myth There are many myths surrounding this subject. The number #1 myth associated with the appearance of Crepey Skin is due to aging and old age. It is true that as we age our skin does change and become wrinkled and often thin as well. However, here are the facts... According to the Cleveland Clinic and dermatologists, Crepey Skin is MOST often caused by the sun. Over time, the damage from the sun is cumulative. The exposure breaks down the elastin in our skin. Elastin is a type of "fiber" that is present in our skin that allows it to stretch and return to a normal position. Like a rubberband in similarity, it moves and stretches but over time the rubberband becomes loose and doesn

Getting Rid of Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Image
Getting rid of fine lines and wrinkles has entered a new age.  The industry of skin care and anti-aging has risen to an incredible status. This market has become huge; billions of dollars are being spent to advertise it to you and billions of dollars are being spent as consumers try its products and services. Dermatologists and skin care officials agree that the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can occur at any time on the facial skin, but statistically someone in their 30’s (mid to late) will likely have some. Fine lines are caused by the skin naturally breaking down by the loss of collagen and elastin, as well as environmental exposure to the sun and everyday pollutants. One other factor that causes fine line and wrinkles is just simple genetics. Though one cannot control genetics that you’re given, it will play a role in how quickly your skin will age. These genetics plays a role in  “sagging jowls”, or even “turkey neck” and “laugh lines” or “heavy lids. We all have

Your Skin Beauty

By Mary Caliendo Your Beauty is skin deep. Here's a small guide for your skin through the stages and ages of your life. In your teens and early 20's it is very important that you take care of yourself. As with everything in your future, your health and your beauty starts early. When you are young and looking into the mirror, you don't immediately see a 50 year old self looking back at you. But your old bad habits will show up when you are older, and unfortunately it will show up on your face. In this age category you will get pimples here and there, or you will get acne. In your young teens and 20's your glands just overproduce oil and thus pimples. Please don't use harsh chemicals to zap them, your skin is delicate at this time and will not need those harsh very adult remedies . Instead, use gentle washes at bedtime, and apply a moisturizer. Look for a lotion that contains an SPF of 15 or above. Make sure also that it contains UVA and UVB sun protect
