One of the hardest things to do for any lifestyle change is to stay with it. So whether it's a dietary change or exercise regime, in order to get the results that you set out to attain, you cannot just give up. Dietary Changes Everyone has different motivational factors as to why they adopt any lifestyle change. Some individuals just want to lose weight or they want to get ready for a 5K walk; so they are only in a lifestyle change for a short period of time. Many of us, however, want to change things for the long haul; meaning a lifetime. Keto Lifestyle For this post, I am highlighting a really easy recipe. This recipe is part of my own personal Keto journey. The dietary changes I made were for more than one reason. My personal medical issues and weight loss; I simply wanted to feel better. I like most people, didn't overindulge in things, but the things I chose to love just were not loving me. I did enjoy potato chips, Tostitos type chips, how about those yummy suga...

Warding Off Alzheimer's Holistically

Image
Photo Credit: minddisorders.com Over the years in my content writing, I have done a lot of articles on the subject of Alzheimer's disease, functions of the brain and ways to keep it healthy. Many things have changed, like the studies regarding the advancement of drugs, but some things have never changed. What It Is Alzheimer's is a disease that impairs memory, behavior, and thinking. Then in all other 99% of cases, amyloid and tau are associated with things like brain inflammation, vascular factors, and LIFESTYLE. Lifestyle Changes C...

My Ketogenic Journey

Image
My Ketogenic Journey For the past three months, I have journeyed into the “keto” diet. I was looking for a diet that I could make what I wanted and lose weight. I have struggled with other diets, feeling deprived and not being able to stay on them. At first, I delved into the list and thought “Oh wow, this is going to be tough”, it’s so restrictive! But for some reason, at this point, it has been easy. I feel better, i.e. way less bloated and I did lose weight immediately! This helps to keep you in the game. So….. I’m pasta-less, potato-less, bread-less and I love it.  Mostly, keto is everything I was eating already, just remove all the carbs and sugar and voila! Pounds gone, I highly recommend. At this writing, I have successfully lost 21 pounds. Here’s my take on lunch the other day: My own keto take on salmon salad (faux salmon nicoise) ½ C= about 4 oz.  (Mixed greens: spinach, kale, chard, arugula) 7g of carb, 3 g fiber, 4 net carbs 40 calories 1 ½ C =...

Getting Rid of Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Image
Getting rid of fine lines and wrinkles has entered a new age.  The industry of skin care and anti-aging has risen to an incredible status. This market has become huge; billions of dollars are being spent to advertise it to you and billions of dollars are being spent as consumers try its products and services. Dermatologists and skin care officials agree that the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can occur at any time on the facial skin, but statistically someone in their 30’s (mid to late) will likely have some. Fine lines are caused by the skin naturally breaking down by the loss of collagen and elastin, as well as environmental exposure to the sun and everyday pollutants. One other factor that causes fine line and wrinkles is just simple genetics. Though one cannot control genetics that you’re given, it will play a role in how quickly your skin will age. These genetics plays a role in  “sagging jowls”, or even “turkey neck” and “laugh lines” or “heavy lids...
