Your Skin Beauty

Your Beauty is skin deep. Here's a small guide for your skin through the stages and ages of your life.

In your teens and early 20's it is very important that you take care of yourself. As with everything in your future, your health and your beauty starts early.

When you are young and looking into the mirror, you don't immediately see a 50 year old self looking back at you. But your old bad habits will show up when you are older, and unfortunately it will show up on your face.

In this age category you will get pimples here and there, or you will get acne. In your young teens and 20's your glands just overproduce oil and thus pimples. Please don't use harsh chemicals to zap them, your skin is delicate at this time and will not need those harsh very adult remedies.
Instead, use gentle washes at bedtime, and apply a moisturizer. Look for a lotion that contains an SPF of 15 or above. Make sure also that it contains UVA and UVB sun protection.

Coming into your middle years, you may start to notice subtle skin changes. Sometimes, very late 20's through even early 40's fine lines appear, perhaps a wrinkle or two. *Anything damaging that happened to your skin in your 20's will start to creep in now.* Please continue to protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun, they are extremely damaging!

Your daily morning regimen should include a product to exfoliate your skin. For your bedtime wash, you should maintain use of a mild cleanser. Many great creamy ones are on the market.
Look for a retinol type lotion at night. (this will repair damage as you sleep)

Skin now that is entering the latter part of the 40's and into 50's show signs of losing its elasticity. Pores increase in size, and often time we see spider veins and sometimes age spots will appear. Continue to treat yourself with care using a more creamier cleanser, and looking for a pore reducing product. During these times women also may be dealing with menopausal issues.
Or perhaps even medications now will contribute to skin issues. Dry patches and even Rosacea may appear. Continue to moisturize, and continue using SPF protection.

Lastly, here are also a few other things that will contribute to having healthy skin. Drink plenty of water and get a great night's sleep. Eat plenty of water-based fruits and vegetables, lean meats and fresh fish.

Good skin practices start early and with a bit of help from good genes and a great lifestyle you can be radiant throughout all the stages of your life.

American Beauty Dies!

Farrah Fawcett born February 2, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas died today June 25, 2009. Farrah fought long and hard with a battle with cancer. Her life time friend, confidant,and father of her only child son Redmond, Ryan O'Neal along with best girlfriend, Alana Stewart, were at her bedside. She was 62 years old.

She got her break in Hollywood doing a toothpaste commercial and from there rose to supermodel fame as a "Charlie's Angels" TV show and multi-million dollar, top selling pin-up poster. She was once married to Lee Majors the "Six Million Dollar Man". Her career spanned movies into the 1980's. And in 1984 she played an abused wife in "The Burning Bed", which garnered her and Emmy Nomination, and revived her career as a serious actress. In 1995 Farrah turned 50 and then posed in Playboy.

Recently with her partner Ryan O'Neal at her side she starred in a made for TV videoblog about her cancer. She was brave as she stared in the face of her illness and thus left a wonderful legacy behind.

Michelle Obama has made a splash everywhere she goes, whether it is in her sleeveless fashions or her striking beauty-we all just love her. Mrs. Obama is currently 44 years old, is not only a mother of two, but the wife of the president of the United States! The most stressful job in the free world and she has managed to keep it together. But how do we get arms like her?

First, Michelle Obama is a woman who has always exercised; so she has never let herself get out of fitness to begin with. This makes it easier for a person to stay or maintain physical fitness. Exercise can target areas, but getting the fats out of our diet will help us to achieve maximum exercise benefits faster and maintain them easier.

Obama arms can be achieved with sets of dumbbells very easily. Using the four staple exercises such as lateral raise, and shoulder raise (for shoulders),bicep curls (for biceps),and tricep kickbacks(for triceps: ladies that is the "flabby" part of the back of your arm).

For the beginner: Using dumbbells in the 3-5# range to start. Do these (4) exercises 3 times per week for at least 15 minutes. Beginners should do at least two sets of each exercise. Do each exercise slowly-don't rush!

Please continue to work up to using dumbbells weighing 8-10# each and doing three sets.

Getting Obama arms means trimming the fats and sugars from your diet. Lean proteins, whole grains,fruits, and vegetables are what is what a lean body needs. Adding more fish, chicken without the skin, eggs,and beans to your diet will help you stay fuller longer and give your body great proteins.

Exercise directions:

Lateral shoulder raise : Stand w/feet somewhat apart and with dumbbell in each hand extend arms up to shoulder level and back down again. Repeat 10- 15 times (or until you fatigue)

Simple shoulder raise: Stand w/feet somewhat apart and with dumbbell in each hand do a simple shrug up and down. Repeat 10-15 times (or until you fatigue)

Bicep curls: can be done sitting down or standing. Dumbbell in each hand- raise up dumbbell toward shoulder close to body. Repeat 10-15 times (or until you fatigue)

Tricep curl: Standing: Bend at waist making sure your back is flat and not curved, starting at side w/dumbbell in each hand -push back dumbbell. Repeat 10-15 times (or until you fatigue)*With this exercise it is easy to strain your back make sure your back is flat at all times and do not push yourself-if this is too hard only do two -three*

Some people will respond to these exercises quickly and some it will take longer, don't give up! And always the best advise is to always check with your doctor to let him know you are using weights and lowering your fat/sugars intake!
