Switch Out The Bad Ingredients

Image
There is so much unnecessary sugar in items such as condiments for example, as well as other not so good for you things. People that struggle with health issues and people who are interested in what types of ingredients are in their favorite condiments are shocked when they actually read the labels! Here is a great quick guide on label reading: (see picture below) I find that once I started doing it, it became like second nature. I pick up an item in the store and the first thing I do is read the label. The companies have gotten the message of late, that people are not going to buy things that they think are "bad" for them or the ingredients do not coinside with their specific desired dietary needs, so they have been slowly illiminating them. Now those with a lactose intollerance or allergy for example, can find alternatives. This is great for everyone. I have personally been ketogenic for the longest time and I have been able to maintain my weight and my tummy feels well

Mamma And My Fragrant Kitchen

Image
Who knew I'd be making soup in Spring? Well it's May 1st and it's still chilly out,the temps near me a high of 48 degrees and it's cloudy, overcast and feels more like Fall than late Spring. So when I'm feeling blase' I hit the kitchen. I figured I had enough pantry items on-hand to make my family a simple chicken noodle soup. I'll share my pictures and mini recipe here, but before I do as an aside...I kept thinking about my mother; her heavenly birthday just passed us by and since then she's been in my thoughts, and she left me with the fragrant food memories. Here's a photo of my mom in the late 1960's (I think). She loved flowers and I inturn also love them. (Again, with the fragrance) I love looking out at my window and seeing this beauty everyday. But anyway back to soup and mom leaving a legacy of creativity in the kitchen. The oven and the stove boiling over all the time with the homemade goodness. I remember when we used to cook whole

Pickle Chips Keto Style

So you need a simple, quick, and easy snack recipe and it has to be Keto-friendly? Oh I have a great little snack that takes about 10 minutes to prepare and to bake and you'll just love them. These treats are something a bit different but will keep you satisfied and in ketosis. (I'm that person who is FOMO) Really, I am missing out and if one intends to stay with the keto lifestyle, you have to give yourself little easy snacks that you can much on while everyone is opening a bag of chips and dip in front of you. This recipe isn't just good for keto, anyone at all can eat these and love them. Preheat your oven between 375-400 degrees (oven times vary) For this recipe I will be using a regular sized muffin tin pan, one can use the mini-muffin maker and I would set the oven on only 375 degrees. Also, one caveat, you also have to love pickles! For this recipe I am using dill pickles. Pre-cut coin size pickles work great for this recipe, but I didn't have any on-hand s

Homemade Keto/Low Carb Ranch Dip & Dressing Recipe

Image
The summer holidays are here. Most of America is lifting all of the Covid 19 restrictions, so off to the family BBQ we go. What goes better at a BBQ other than dip? Dips do not have to contain sugar, and this recipe is probably the easiest on the planet to make. So today I'm highlighting a homemade Low carb and Keto-friendly ranch dip and dressing. Making home made recipes controls the amount of "bad for you ingredients" or just unecessary ingredients. If you become a consumer who reads the labels, you would be shocked. Did you know that condiments carry a ton of sugar in them and often times we may descriminately overuse them? Did you know that by reading the label on the Coke can one can find out that in a 12 oz can there is 39g of sugar and compare that to just 1 TBSP of Ketchup carries about 3.7 g of sugar. That starts adding up. Look for alternatives now that contain little or no sugar. If you don't see it, ask your grocer, they will try to stock it or report
