Image
Happy Holidays! Well if you're still on your weight-loss journey or on Ketogenics for health reasons, welcome to phase I of the holidays. (I just made up these phases to illustrate my thought processes LOL) Phase I of the holidays is in my mind simply passing the first holiday with some assemblence of eating the keto-friendly diet you were adhereing to previously. So with Phase I down, we now are approaching Phase 2 (Christmas) and that consists of so many, many ways to cheat; I do love Christmas cookies and all the fun desserts; they were truly a downfall for me. But remember to try really hard to not beat yourself up for partaking in a few of the treats. It's hard to be on a specific lifestyle when the whole house is not. This year I will include a small container of keto-friendly Christmas cookies for myself while I'm baking for everyone else. I've Included a very easy recipe for what I call Cheese Tidbits. These tasty little things can act like a chip or

Chaffles: Mini Keto Waffles and Dash Mini Waffle Maker Review

Image
Finished homemade chaffles I'm jumping on board, I'm part of the Chaffle train!  I first found out about chaffles on my keto journey when I followed a keto chef that showed us how to make chaffles to use instead of bread. Lack Of Bread On the keto lifestyle, the elimination of bread is huge in order to have success with it. I can only speak for myself, but I was always missing bread. To be clear I was never that "big" on bread anyway, but I guess I was missing the sandwich as we traditionally know it. I am very creative in my use of inventing food type recipes that mimicked 2 slices of bread to make me feel like I had just eaten a sandwich. A lot of them were decent, yet still missing the texture and "feel" of bread. Enter The Chaffle and The Chaffle Recipe Heaven happened that day the chaffle entered my life! It turns out that the recipe was way simpler than making a loaf of bread ever could be. Now there are many variations to the basic

One of the hardest things to do for any lifestyle change is to stay with it. So whether it's a dietary change or exercise regime, in order to get the results that you set out to attain, you cannot just give up. Dietary Changes Everyone has different motivational factors as to why they adopt any lifestyle change. Some individuals just want to lose weight or they want to get ready for a 5K walk; so they are only in a lifestyle change for a short period of time. Many of us, however, want to change things for the long haul; meaning a lifetime. Keto Lifestyle For this post, I am highlighting a really easy recipe. This recipe is part of my own personal Keto journey. The dietary changes I made were for more than one reason. My personal medical issues and weight loss; I simply wanted to feel better. I like most people, didn't overindulge in things, but the things I chose to love just were not loving me. I did enjoy potato chips, Tostitos type chips, how about those yummy suga

Keto Blueberry Muffins

Homemade Keto Blueberry Muffins Often times in this Keto journey if  I don't eat enough food sometimes I get the "muchies" and I want something else to eat, or sometimes I do want something quick and easy to eat in the morning. I love making these Keto Blueberry Muffins. I am not sure where this recipe originated because I follow so many foodie and Keto people. But I wanted to share this recipe with all of you. Part of why Keto is successful is because the person can control exactly what is going into their food because they are making it. This recipe does call for Almond flour (usually blanched), I only had an almond flour meal on hand so this is what I used.  *Coconut flour is not the same please refer to this helpful conversion website: https://www.dummies.com/food-drink/special-diets/paleo-diet/substituting-coconut-flour-for-almond-flour/ Here are the ingredients 2 1/2 cups of  almond flour 1/3 cup of Keto friendly type sugar (erythritol) I used Swerve

Flexicado An Avocado Slicer and Review

Image
I found a new gadget that I am truly enamored with, it's called the Flexicado by Chef'n. I bought it at a boutique type kitchen and housewares shop.  It is made out of a soft to the hand BPA free plastic that is flexible. You tighten your grip and it can be used with any size avocado! The plastic "blades" scrape evenly, and you get even slices of avocado in one single swoop! It cleans straight down to the peel and there is little to no waste or avocado left behind in the peel. After halving the avocado, remove the pit Came out great on the first attempt My avocado victims above were slightly ripe, so their consistency was slightly mushy, but you can get the idea. The avocados that I used were also a mini size, and you can see I had no difficulty squeezing the handle to insert the Flexicado. I thought this was an awesome little gadget and for us Keto people who eat an avocado a lot, we also waste them a lot (scooping with a spoon I often rip the p
