As much as I didn't want to make a post regarding Coronavirus, I know it is the prudent thing to do; so while I won't dwell here too long, there are a few recommendations that everyone should know.

CDC Recommendations

The Center For Disease Control has issued several simple recommendations or guidelines if you will, to help to keep you as safe as possible during this time of virus.

1. Reconsider your travel plans. Stay home unless it is absolutely necessary.
2. Stay home if you are currently sick, or immune-compromised.
3. Completely cover a cough or a sneeze at all times.
4. Clean and disinfect the surfaces of your home frequently with a disinfectant product.
5. Try hard not to touch your face, eyes, nose or mouth.
6. Avoid hugs and handshaking.

And Last But Not Least...
7. Wash your hands!  Use the guidelines below for proper handwashing techniques.

Proper Handwashing

Here are the guidelines as presented by the CDC

Follow Five Steps to Wash Your Hands the Right Way
Washing your hands is easy, and it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Clean hands can stop germs from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community—from your home and workplace to childcare facilities and hospitals.
Follow these five steps every time.
  1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
  2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
  3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
  4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
  5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

Hand Sanitizer can prove to be helpful if there is NO soap and water nearby. The CDC recommends that it be at least 60% alcohol-based. If you cannot find a hand sanitizer, you can DIY it. There are many recipes around, some will add scents or even be made with vodka. We'll start with the bare minimum ingredients, here's the recipe that I would make:

*Remember you need an emollient type of gel in your sanitizer because it would be too harsh on our skin to use straight alcohol.

Hand Sanitizer Recipe:

2/3 cup       99%  isopropyl alcohol (very important that it is 99% so that it can be effective)
1/3 cup        aloe vera gel

*some people will add essential oil for a scent this is optional.

Mix together and then put it into a very clean soap dispenser.
