Pets And Dangerous Foods

Photo Credit: psychologytoday.com The Holidays Can Put Your Pet In Danger The holidays are here and so is all the food preparation going on in the kitchen. Your pet can see, hear, and smell what's going on. They are naturally curious and will be happy to quietly sneak around with their noses to the ground and sniff around to further see what they can. Most domesticated animals are opportunists, meaning "hey if something just so happens to fall on the floor", or an overflowing garbage basket proves too hard to resist, and finally "that darned cat", he's on the counter again, to them there is no 5 second rule; if it's there~ it's gone! But please beware that the foods you are preparing for your family, may also get Fido and Fluffy sick or even prove to be deadly! I have a lot of the first-hand knowledge and experience with a curious dog, His name was Frankie. Frankie was our male Yorkie and he knew he was a star. We got him abo

Glyphosate In Food and Cancer

Image
Photo Credit: GlobalResearch.com Glyphosate, What Is It? It's in the news, you're hearing about it all the time, so what is this? Simply put glyphosate is an herbicide. It is applied to the leaves of plants and grasses to control the Broadleaf plant and grasses. Broadleaf is an invasive weed that can/will overtake plants, crops, and grasses if it is left to grow uncontrollably. Broadleaf will "smother" the plants and crops and starve them for sunlight and water. Glyphosate is used as a way to regulate this plant growth, and even ripen some crops. It was first introduced in the United States in 1974, and itis the most widely used herbicide in the United States. photo credit: npic.orst.edu Safety According to the EPA, glyphosate is low in toxicity for people. In December of 2017, the EPA did what they call a Risk Assessment on glyphosate and found the is NOT likely to be a carcinogen to humans. However, pets and other animals may suffer stomach up

Keto Berry Jelly

Image
Finished jelly being used with 90second bread (a recipe later) I am always on a quest to find recipes that are not only simple to make and are tasty as well. The Ketogenic lifestyle cuts out sugars and high carb foods such as slices of bread and jelly, so breakfast seems a bit lost without it. *Sorry I guess that's me lost without that bit of sweetness and filling from the bread. I do also like recipes that I can make ahead because let's face it, I enjoy just reaching into the refrigerator and grabbing whatever I need just like the next guy. I also like recipes that I can share with my family too, and that anyone can eat and enjoy it. When making this recipe you can feel good that you would be sharing something that is good for anyone. Why Chia Seeds Chia comes from a salvia plant, which is in the mint family of plants. The salvia originated in Central and South America. Chia seeds are in recipes like jelly and pudding because they absorb liquid and in this recipe

Earthday.org

Bees, a species in danger Photo Credit: Earthday.org I find subject matter that I hope will make a difference in someone's life or lifestyle. I also love to post things that are for the "greater good" of the world or people. Today I choose to highlight the Earthday.Org website.   https://www.earthday.org/ I learned so much from this website and I thought that this was something I had to pass on. Frayed Hem Jean Skirt Easy No-sew Wardrobe Update

Thrift store skirt purchase I'd love to be on the cusp of fashion-forward all the time, but frankly, I'm not so sure one could afford to be all the time.  I also think that trends change so quickly, it is sometimes near impossible to keep up with them, and finally, I don't need to tell you how much clothing and shoes cost. Of late I have been perusing the aisles at the GoodWill store in my area. Shop Till You Drop I often times will come away with a full bag of clothing, and there are times when I will come away with nothing at all. My own clothing journey has been interesting, I have lost quite a bit of weight and literally had only a few items that fit! When you go shopping in thrift or resale and consignment shops, you might even find items with the manufactures tag still attached! Most likely this item was bought and never worn, and like many of our own closets, we have this item hanging in there too! (Could be time to purge out your closet?) This year a lot

Some individuals just want to lose weight or they want to get ready for a 5K walk; so they are only in a lifestyle change for a short period of time. Many of us, however, want to change things for the long haul; meaning a lifetime. Keto Lifestyle For this post, I am highlighting a really easy recipe. I like most people, didn't overindulge in things, but the things I chose to love just were not loving me. I did enjoy potato chips, Tostitos type chips, how about those yummy suga
