Recycled Easter Trees, A Reimagining Craft

Image
ReImagining Things I used to own several mass-produced Easter trees. Well, over the years and many kids later, needless to say, they broke. So Today I'm reimagining these trees. (I had saved the hanging little Easter ornaments) I shopped at my home, and in my study, I found two (very) old white-painted metal urns! They are so cute and perfect for these mini-trees. They are super heavy so they actually can hold up some weight. I went out with the dogs and found a few branches. (I pulled some dead ones, they are quite brittle though). I figured I'd give them a coverage of white spray paint, but ultimately I liked their natural state, so I left them with no paint. Assemble I added dry floral foam cut to fit into the little urn. Then stuck the sharp edge of the branch directly into the foam. I added a bit of white glue surrounding just the foam and branch for extra added strength. I didn't want to use fake Easter grass, so I added green natural moss (the g

Becoming...Spring

We are like the seasons In many ways, we are like the changing of the seasons. We change and adapt to our surroundings and we are always a work in progress. I used to think it was a bad thing to be a work in progress, but then I realized just like seasons, I change too. Officially, in the northern hemisphere anyway, Spring isn't supposed to be here until March 20th, but don't tell that to the Robins. They're here chirping and getting their nests ready. Spring brings happy changes, like temperate weather, and the emerging of all things growing. Like flowers, nature gives us color and shapes and scents. We emerge as we grow and change and perhaps we haven't quite hit our most colorful time yet, or perhaps we have and now we are at the point in our lives where we want to wallow in it! Whatever point of beauty you are in, be blessed to know like the artist and poetess Jody Hills once said: "She wasn't where she had been, She wasn't where she w

Lava Stone Healing

Image
Lava Stone Healing Lava stone comes from the earth’s core. Lava bubbles and comes to the surface and then it cools. After the lava cools it becomes very porous and gets black in color. This is called basalt. Basalt is defined as a fine-grained volcanic rock that cools quickly and becomes cylindrical/conical. The igneous lava rock forms extremely quickly after reaching the surface. The stones can often be found in the ocean. Healing Strength For many centuries lava stone has played a role in healing. The stones are believed to carry energy. Many believe it comes from the energy of nature and its rebirth is calming and emotional. Some religions and groups believe it to be a root chakra. For example, a strong earth connection and a strong center (as it comes from the center of the earth) The belief is that the lava stones should be worn close to or on the skin and make a true connection. Lava stone is often found in bracelets because the bracelet actually is lying on th

Valentine's Day Wall Art

Image
I have a project that is easy and you can put your personal spin on it! I love doing projects that are easy, and relatively cost-effective. This quick project can easily be used as a gift to give or can be put on your wall in your own home.  I have seen these types of wall art in stores and they are very costly.  What I did was go to my local craft store and purchased anything I did not already have. For this wall art, I wanted to go "neutral" in color.  For my Valentines Day  wall art, I used these things: 8"x 10" white canvas 1 package of paper flowers ( approx. 3.99) 1 package small wooden letters (approx. 1.99) optional White glue acrylic paints    (chose to mix a light blue and white together) (and did bright yellow on the sides) Directions: Step 1: Paint canvas  (you can choose the color, and be patient let it dry, can also use watercolors it may dry a little faster) Just painted Step 2: Plan the way yo

Kindness Rocks

Image
KINDNESS ROCKS I’m on a Mindful journey and healing/mending takes on a whole new perspective whether you set out to be kind or kindness happens by accident. As I journey through mindfulness, I find that you can pass on hope and inspiration to others and by doing simple acts of kindness they will help to heal you. You will be helping to cause a ripple effect in the universe and you’ll get this feeling because you’ll realize that it is so much bigger than ourselves. I recently got caught being kind and someone sent me a #kindawesome card, and then I was sent two KIND snacks in appreciation! So awesome and kind! You can send someone who does something kind if you go to howkindofyou.com   then share your snack on social like I have so you too can pass on this kind campaign to someone else. @kindsnacks  #kindawesome Thank you @kindsnacks for doing this! My take on The Kindness Rocks Project I love the Kindness Rocks Project! “One message a
